Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) has banned the transmission and broadcast of Bol News and Bol Transmission over failure to get security clearance from the interior ministry.
According to the details, the licenses of the channels, which are owned by M/s Labbaik (Pvt) Ltd, were revoked back in 2017 and the matter had been pending before the Sindh High Court (SHC) until last year.
PEMRA added that licenses for Bol News and Bol Entertainment were cancelled as the Ministry of Interior had not issued a security clearance.
Bol News and Bol Entertainment continued their transmissions while the case was pending in the Singh High Court (SHC), which was wrapped up in December 2021.
However, the company did not approach the regulator for renewal of the license.
In a meeting today, PEMRA informed that the channel could not be allowed to operate until the Ministry of Interior issued a security clearance.
“The PEMRA reviewed all records, court orders, and notices from the interior ministry and subsequently decided to revoke licenses issued to Labbaik (Pvt) Ltd (Bol News and Bol Entertainment) with immediate effect.” said the regulator.

It is pertinent to mention that transmission of Bol News was also taken offline temporarily last month during Former Prime Minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman, Imran Khan’s speech being broadcast of the channel.
