Pakistan’s entertainment is constantly growing with each passing year with new names entering showbiz alongside already established actors. The reason for the growth might be the type of content being produces, which happens to relate to people’s own lives so it helps attracts more viewers. Unlike international TV shows, Pakistan’s dramas don’t usually last for very long as these screenplays are short and run over a period of 2 or 3 months before airing their last episode.
This might be one of the reasons behind the large audience they receive as people constantly get something different, which maybe similar in terms of storyline but do offer its own perspective on the topic at hand. 1. Sang-e-Mah
Sang-e-Mah revolves on the concept of ‘Gagh’, which is a Pashto word that translates to ailan or proclamation of marriage by a man to marry a girl. Directed by Saife Hassan, the Pakistani drama focuses on the concept of ‘Gagh’ and the oppression of women in the tribal areas of the country.
The drama serial stars the likes of Atif Aslam, Hania Aamir, Kubra Khan, Nauman Ijaz, Samiya Mumtaz, Sania Saeed, Omair Rana, Hasan Noman, and Najiba Faiz, which is another reason for the enthusiastic response to the project as these are some very big names in the local entertainment industry.
Sang-e-Mah was written by Mustafa Afridi and produced by Momina Duraid Productions.
2. Sinf-e-Aahan
Sinf-e-Aahan was produced by Next Level Entertainment and Six Sigma Plus in collaboration with Inter -Services Public Relations (ISPR). Directed by Nadeem Baig and written by Umera Ahmed, the drama serial’s story revolves around the story of seven girls from different backgrounds whose lives change after joining the army.
The drama serial aired 24 episodes from 27 November 2021 to 7 May 2022 and included a huge and extremely popular cast, including Sajal Aly, Kubra Khan, Yumna Zaidi, Ramsha Khan, Syra Yousaf, and Yehali Tashiya, a Sri-Lankan actress. Recurring cast includes Sheheryar Munawar, Dananeer Mobeen, Usman Mukhtar, Asim Azhar, and Merub Ali among others.
3. Paristan
Paristan was released as a Ramadan special and produced by Momina Duraid Productions under the banner of MD Productions. Furthermore, the drama serial was directed by Ali Hassan and written by Samra Bukhari. Moreover, the project stars some very popular names like Mira Sethi, Merub Ali, Arslan Naseer, Taimoor Salahuddin, Ali Safina, Junaid Jamshed Niazi, Aymen Saleem, and Saife Hassan.
The drama is a comedy special with several characters and a interesting storyline that revolves around a girl named Pernia aka Pari, whose parents passed away when she was very young, which made her move in with her aunt and uncle. Meanwhile, Arsam, one of male protagonist of the story, moves in next to Pari’s home, which starts this interesting tale.
4. Dil Awaiz
Dil Awaiz makes it to the list of Top 10 Best Pakistani Dramas in 2022 due to the unique story line, which revolves around a young girl, Dil Awaiz, who is treated badly by her own father, is an influential and wealthy businessman, as he is not happy with her birth due to her mother’s past. He stays distant from his daughter right from her birth, which leads her to live a miserable life.
However, things get even worse when a handsome young man, Sikandar, enters Dil Awaiz’s life and she is expected to compromise and sacrifice herself in order to save her family’s honor and respect.
The drama serial is written by Mahida Shahid and directed by Mazhar Moin. Furthermore, the project was produced by Abdullah Kadwani and Asad Qureshi under the banner of 7th Sky Entertainment with a huge ensemble cast, including Kinza Hasmi, Affan Waheed, Seemi Raheel, Kashif Mehmood, Fazeela Qazi, Javeria Abbasi, Farhan Ali Agha, Raeed, Ayesha Gul, Yasra Rizvi, Janaan Hussain, Saife Hassan, Qudsia Ali, and Raza Zaidi.
5. Chaudhry and Sons
Directed by Syed Wajahat Hussain and written by Saima Akram Chaudhry, the story of Chaudhry and Sons revolves around the reunion of a family. Produced by Abdullah Kadwani and Asad Qureshi under the banner of 7th Sky Entertainment, the drama serial was released as a Ramadan and Eid-ul-Fitr special with 33 episodes airing from April 3 to May 5, 2022.
6. Kaisi Teri Khudgarzi
The drama serial revolves around Shamsher, a businessman, who goes to all extents to win Mehak’s love, a girl belonging to a middle-class family. Directed by Ahmed Bhatti and written by Radain Shah, Kaisi Meri Khudgarzi is considered on the best family drama serials for 2022. Furthermore, the drama stars A-list actors like Danish Taimoor and Dur-e-Fishan Saleem in lead roles. 8. Mushkil
Mushkil is considered one of the best drama serials in 2022 and the story revolves around love, loss, and betrayal as friendship between two best friends, Sameen and Hareem, is put to the test as they come face to face with numerous challenges.
Sameen, who hails from a humble background, is a young and naive girl who understands and respects her family values. She studies at a university with her best friend Hareem and the two share many secrets. Meanwhile, Hareem is is a one-sided love with one of her colleagues, Faraz, who is a handsome and young man unaware of Hareem’s feelings.
Things take a surprising turn when an impulsive decision by Hareem’s family and her obsession to win Faraz leads to several misunderstandings. Sameen’s intentions to help her best friend leads her further into trouble where she is left to save her self-respect.
Mushkil is written by Adel Razzaq and directed by Marina Khan with Abdullah Kadwani and Asad Qureshi producing the project under 7th Sky Entertainment. The cast of the drama serial includes the talented Saboor Aly, Khushhal Khan, Zainab Shabbir, Humayoun Ashraf, Behroze Sabzwari, Shagufta Ejaz, Saife Hassan, Laila Wasti, Ismat Zaidi, Kashif Hussain, Qudsia, Hareem Sohail, Rashid Farooqi, and Rasheeda Tabassum.
9. Fraud
Fraud was one of the best and most-awaited drama serials of 2022 due to Saba Qamar, who stars as Maya Shaan nee Nasir alongside Ahsan Khan as Shujaat and Mikaal Zulfiqar as Shaan Kumar. The story of Fraud revolves around characters Maya and Tabraiz, who runs away with her jewelry and leaves her stranded at the train station while they are on their honeymoon.

10. Aye Musht-e-Khaak
During times when people are drifting away from religion and accepting foreign cultures, Aye Musht-e-Khaak is a much needed addition to Pakistani drama serials. The story of the drama revolves around Mustajab, a young man who doesn’t believe in faith or religion, but ends up falling in love with Dua, a spiritual and religious person.
However, Dua refuses to reciprocate the same feelings and Mustajab, who is not accustomed to refusal becomes agitated and his liking towards Dua soon turns into obsession.
Written by Maha Malik and Directed by Aeshun Talish, the drama serial was produced by Abdullah Kadwani and Asad Qureshi under the banner of 7th Sky Entertainment. The cast includes Feroze Khan, Sana Javed, Asad Siddiqui, Shabbir Jan, Shahood Alvi, Iffat Omar, Sadaf Ahsan, Ayesha Gul, Shajeer Uddin, Namrah Shahid, Danial Afzal, Shiza, Hira Umer, Ellie Zaid, and Shah Jee.
