Only 2 days following a 4.5 magnitude tremor, another 5.5 earthquake jolted Gilgit-Baltistan and multiple adjoining areas on Monday.
Initial reports indicate that a 5.0 earthquake shook various parts of Gilgit-Baltistan, prompting residents to quickly evacuate their homes in fear and come out on to the streets.
The earthquake, measured at a magnitude of 5.0, reportedly originated 45 kilometers southeast of the city.
The earthquake monitoring center noted the depth of the seismic event at 25 kilometers.
No causalities or damage has been reported as a result of the quake.
It is pertinent to mention that a 4.5 magnitude earthquake struck parts of Gilgit-Baltistan on February 19. According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), the epicenter of the quake was Afghanistan-Tajikistan border, with a depth of 102 kilometers.
