The Government of Sindh has achieved another significant milestone in its commitment to public service by prioritizing the healthcare needs of underprivileged individuals. Under the leadership of the Honourable Minister for Auqaf, Religious Affairs, Zakat & Ushr, Syed Riaz Hussain Shah Sheerazi, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Zakat & Ushr Department and Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS), Karachi. The signing ceremony, held in Karachi, marked a pivotal step toward providing high-quality healthcare services to deserving patients at subsidized rates through Zakat funds.
The MoU was signed by Mr. Muhammad Kashif Siddiqui, Director (A&A), Zakat Department, and Dr. Ashar Afaq, Registrar, DUHS. Under this agreement, deserving patients will receive a comprehensive range of healthcare services, including outpatient (OPD) consultations, emergency care, diagnostic tests, medications, and inpatient treatments, all at discounted rates. The ceremony was attended by the Honourable Minister Syed Riaz Hussain Shah Sheerazi as the chief guest, along with Secretary Zakat & Ushr, Mr. Muhammad Mureed Rahimoon; Pro-Vice Chancellor, Professor Dr. Nazli Hussain; Registrar, Dr. Ashar Afaq; and Director Finance, Syed Zain-ul-Abideen Shah, among other esteemed officials.
Speaking at the event, Minister Syed Riaz Hussain Shah Sheerazi reaffirmed the Sindh Government’s unwavering commitment to ensuring that no deserving patient is denied access to quality medical care due to financial constraints. He lauded Dow University for its cutting-edge medical facilities and expertise, emphasizing that the institution will deliver outstanding healthcare services to those in need through this collaboration. “This MoU reflects the government’s resolve to uplift the underprivileged and build a healthier society. Dow University, renowned for its excellence in the medical field and state-of-the-art technology, will play a crucial role in delivering superior healthcare to deserving individuals,” said the Minister.
This partnership between the Zakat Department and DUHS represents a major step forward in the Sindh Government’s mission to enhance public welfare.
