The Government has restored the 9988 SMS service for passport application tracking after three years, offering the ability to stay updated regarding the passport’s preparation and delivery status.

Furthermore, the Government has also launched a new schedule for issuing tokens to applicants in all passport offices across the country.
The restored 9988 SMS service is part of the Directorate General Immigration and Passport (DGIP) efforts to streamline and enhance its services.
Under the system, the applicants will be able to track the progress of their passport application via SMS on their registered mobile numbers. The updates include everything from application receipt, processing status, printing, and passport delivery.
In related news, the Government has also introduced a new system or schedule for issuing tokens, which is going to make everyone’s experience at the passport office more convenient.
According to the details, tokens will be distributed from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm on Mondays to Thursdays and 8:00 am to 12:00 pm on Fridays at all passport offices across the country. The new scheduling aims to reduce wait times and provide a more convenient experience.
