Intel Corporation is an American multinational semiconductor chip maker is planning to introduce Intel’s tablets and detachable tablets to Pakistani market in second half 2013. The director of Intel’s partners in the Asia Pacific region said that Intel will be starting off with seven-inch tablets by the end of June or early July. Intel’s Ultra book 2-in-1 detachable will also be coming in the next two months.
This move by the Intel will change the trend in Pakistan as consumers will shift from laptops to tablets and why not, tablets are the fastest growing tech in the whole world.
In Pakistan, till now only Chinese tablets are being sold in low-end range as low as $70-100 , but those tablets are not trust worthy and durable one ,they have good specs but cannot be be used for long terms. Now,Intel have to compete with the Chinese tablet makers.
On the other side analysts think that the Intel is making the wrong move as the Pakistani market is yet not ready for the tablets. The reason behind this is that the tablets experience is only complete with proper internet, while the Internet connection in Pakistan are not that good enough, and still Pakistan has no 3G services so the process of buying and downloading apps from stores is much slower than the other countries.
Smartphones are becoming more and more popular in Pakistan, So tablets can also gain market but takes time.
