Islamabad, Pakistan — The Exise & Taxation Department Islamabad has introduced significant updates to vehicle registration and number plate regulations, aiming to standardize plate designs and enforce stricter penalties for violations.
Standardized Plate Colors: New regulations mandate specific colors for number plates based on the vehicle’s category to enhance identification:
- Transport/Commercial Vehicles: Black numbers and letters on a yellow background.
- Federal Government Vehicles: White numbers and letters on a green background.
- Autonomous/Semi-Autonomous Organizations: White numbers and letters on a blue background.
- Private Ambulances: White numbers on a black background.
- All Other Vehicles: Black numbers and letters on a white background.
- Stricter Penalties: Vehicles displaying unauthorized or expired plates will be impounded. Owners will face substantial fines to reinstate their vehicles. Repeat offenders will incur even higher fees.
