Cancellation of Registrations for Vehicles with Non-Standard Number Plate: Islamabad

Islamabad, Pakistan — The Exise & Taxation Department Islamabad has introduced significant updates to vehicle registration and number plate regulations, aiming to standardize plate designs and enforce stricter penalties for violations.

Standardized Plate Colors: New regulations mandate specific colors for number plates based on the vehicle’s category to enhance identification:

Transport/Commercial Vehicles: Black numbers and letters on a yellow background.
Federal Government Vehicles: White numbers and letters on a green background.
Autonomous/Semi-Autonomous Organizations: White numbers and letters on a blue background.
Private Ambulances: White numbers on a black background.
All Other Vehicles: Black numbers and letters on a white background.

Stricter Penalties: Vehicles displaying unauthorized or expired plates will be impounded. Owners will face substantial fines to reinstate their vehicles. Repeat offenders will incur even higher fees.

Re-Registration Fees for First Offense:

Penalties for Repeat Offenses: The re-registration fee will be increased five times for vehicles with repeat violations.

The new rules apply to all vehicles across Pakistan.
These regulations are effective immediately.
