The National Highway and Motorway Police (NHMP) has announced a heavy fine for vehicles that use M-TAG lane without an M-TAG.

According to the details, the new fine will be implemented starting today (5 June 2023) to make sure vehicles without M-TAG do not use the M-TAG lane and cause blockage or nuisance to other drivers.
The decision has been taken to ensure a smoother journey for M-TAG users by reducing congestion and delays caused by non M-TAG vehicles using the dedicated M-TAG lanes at toll plazas across the country.

The new fine for non M-TAG users has been implemented under Article 48 of the National Highways Safety Ordinance 2000, which says that legal action will be taken against vehicles owners who enter the M-TAG lane without a registered M-TAG.
