ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has placed bans on five dating apps which include Tinder, Grindr, Tagged, Skout and SayHi citing immoral / indecent content according to a press release issued by the regulator.
According to Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), notices were issued to the management of these online apps and dating services to moderate immoral / indecent content in Pakistan which includes removal of dating services.
Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) ended up banning Tinder, Grindr, Skout, Tagged and SayHi for failure of these platforms at responding to the notices within the stipulated time.
However, PTA states that it can reconsider the blocking of these mentioned applications if the management assures to adherence to local laws and moderates immoral / indecent content within Pakistan.
Earlier, Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) issued notice to YouTube to moderate and block access to indecent content in Pakistan as per local laws.
