The Punjab government has finalized the process to provide free solar systems under the Punjab Solar System Scheme to the public across the province. This scheme aims to offer relief to the most vulnerable sections of society amid rising electricity prices in Pakistan.
The free solar system scheme will cost the government Rs. 10 billion. The initiative is expected to provide significant relief to families struggling by helping them save money on electricity bills.
Eligibility Criteria
The scheme will benefit 50,000 families, offering them solar systems at no cost. Families consuming up to 100 units of electricity per month are eligible to apply for Punjab Solar System Scheme 2024. All expenses for the solar setup will be covered by the provincial government.
However, those involved in electricity theft, meter tampering, or other illegal activities will not qualify for the scheme. The data of families consuming up to 100 units per month will be sent to the National Telecommunication Corporation (NTC) for verification.
The NTC will forward the verified data to the Punjab Information Technology Board, which will then provide the lists to the district administration for distribution of the solar systems.
Registration Process for Punjab Solar Scheme 2024
Eligible families can register for the Punjab Solar System Scheme by sending their bill reference number and CNIC number in an SMS to 8800. After verification, they will be informed about the results and the next steps to receive their solar systems.
