The Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation (SIUT) has issued an urgent public notice to address a wave of false and fabricated news circulating on social media and through text messages, claiming the demise of Professor Adib Rizvi, the esteemed director of SIUT.
The institute has categorically denied these baseless rumors, stating there is no truth to the messages being spread.
SIUT is taking a firm stand against this misinformation, warning that legal action will be pursued under the Electronic Crimes Act, 2016, Section 18, which deals with spreading false news against individuals.
The institute emphasized that such actions not only harm the reputation of respected figures like Professor Rizvi but also damage the credibility of institutions serving the public.
Law enforcement agencies have been urged to take strict measures against those responsible for this cyber defamation. Additionally, an appeal has been made to the Chief Justice of Pakistan to take suo-moto action to ensure the perpetrators face punishment.
The public is strongly requested to refrain from forwarding or sharing any unverified news about SIUT or its leadership without confirmation from official SIUT channels or the SIUT Media Cell.
For accurate information, contact SIUT directly at (021) 99216024 or 99215752 or via email at info@siut.org.
Let’s stand together against misinformation and protect the dignity of those who dedicate their lives to serving humanity.
