Kashmir : Minor raped, buried alive in North Kashmir

Kashmir : A nine-year-old girl was allegedly buried alive after being raped in Rafiabad locality of North Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Thursday 19th September 2013 evening. The body of the girl was recovered under mound rubble in ‘mysterious” circumstances.

The class 4 student went out of her house to play with other children but did not return back till evening creating panic among her family members who initiated a search.

“While we were searching we heard some screams in low tone and ultimately found her buried alive under mud behind our house”, the victim’s father said.

The girl was rushed to District Hospital Baramulla where she succumbed. Alleging that her daughter has been raped before getting killed Rustum said she was injured when we evacuated her from mud as she was bleeding profusely.

Soon after the news spread in the village, thousands of people came on roads and demanded immediate arrest of culprit(s).

While confirming the sexual assault, Medical Superintendent District Hospital, Baramulla, Dr. Bashir Ahmad told GNS that a team of four doctors conducted post-mortem of deceased at 10 am on Friday. “The cause of death is asphyxia and victim has also been sexually assaulted,” Dr. Bashir said.

He said we have forwarded blood samples of victim to Forensic laboratory, Srinagar for further investigation.

Meanwhile, Police has registered a case in this regard and has started investigation into the incident.

When contacted Superintendent of Police, Sopore, Imtiyaz Ahmed said, “We are investigating the matter and as per the locals, the victim has been found under mud in a mysterious condition,” SP added.
