10 Billion Tree Tsunami trends on social media as Prime Minister Imran Khan kicks off the biggest plantation drive today marking the Tiger Force Day as previously announced.
According to the Prime Minister, the target is to plant 3.5 million saplings today across the country and the premier earlier urged members of parliament, minters and chief ministers to join the initiative on Tiger Force Day.
The Advisor to Prime Minister on Climate Change Malik Amin Aslam said that the 10 Billion Tree Tsunami initiative was going to be completed by June 2021 in Pakistan’s batter against climate change.
He further mentioned that Pakistan was the fifth most affected country by climate change and only if we act responsibly can be overcome this challenge.

Locals uprooting saplings in Bara
There have been reports of locals from Bara Tehsil in Khyber Pakhtunkwa uprooting saplings claiming that they have been planted forcefully on private land.
PTI MNA Iqbal Afridi who initiated the campaign – part of the 10 Billion Tree Tsunami initiative said that plantation had been carried out on private property.
However, Deputy Commissioner Mahmood Aslam confirmed that permission was taken from one of the groups who owned the land but the other group uprooted the saplings the saplings over some dispute.
