In a tragic incident, at least four people have lost their lives, while several others have been injured in a suicide blast at a mosque in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Hangu on Friday.
According to the details, the incident took place within the jurisdiction of the Daoba Police Station during Friday’s sermon.
Hangu District Police Officer, Nisar Ahmed, said that at least 30-40 people were trapped under the rubble as the mosque’s roof caved in after the suicide blast.
Meanwhile, the people rescued from the rubble have been shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment and a rescue operation is underway to get the others.
The police officer informed local media that two suicide bombers were involved in the attack – one of them targeted the gate of the police station, while the other blew himself up inside the mosque.
Caretaker Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister, Azam Khan, has directed officials to impose an emergency in all hospitals of the city and sought a report from law enforcers regarding the incident.
This was the second terrorist attack to hit Pakistan in a single day as a suicide blast at a mosque in Balochistan’s Mastung District has also claimed the lives of over 40 people, including a police officer.
