A 6.5-magnitude earthquake jolted waters near Hualien County of Taiwan at 11:50 p.m. Tuesday (Beijing Time), according to the China Earthquake Networks Center (CENC).
The epicenter was monitored at 24.13 degrees north latitude and 121.71 degrees east longitude, the center said in a statement. The quake struck at a depth of 11 km.

Local media reported that some buildings and roads in Hualien were damaged.
No casualties have been reported yet.
