KARACHI: Religious scholar Dr Syed Allama Zameer Akhtar Naqvi has passed away at the age of 76 after suffering a heart attack in Karachi according to his friends and family.
After suffering the heart attack, Allama Zameer Akhtar Naqvi was shifted to a Aga Khan University Hospital on Saturday and his body moved to the Ancholi Imambargah where his funeral prayers will be held after Maghrib prayers.
Allama Zameer Akhtar Naqvi was born in India’s Lucknow on March 24, 1944 and has garnered a lot of fame in Pakistan and around the world for his lectures on science, history and philosophy.
He has also authored dozens of books on various subjects including literature, religion, logic, journalism, oratory, science, sociology and culture.
Zameer Naqvi was the president of the Mir Anees Academy and editor in chief of the quaterly magazine Al-Qalaam.
