An Anti Terrorism Court in Islamabad has issued arrest warrant for MQM founder Altaf Hussain after it was proven that he ordered the killing of MQM leader Imran Farooq in 2010.
Furthermore, the three more accused in the case have been given life sentences along with order to pay the victim’s family Rs. 1 million each. The accused include Khalid Shamim, Mohsin Ali and Mauzzam Ali who have already been in Adiala Jail since their arrest as prime suspects.
The accused have been given separate sentences according to the court order that will begin together and will include the time already spent in jail since their arrest.
The incident took place in London when MQM leader Imran Farooq was stabbed outside his home on orders of Altaf Hussain to remove any political challenges being faced by him from with the party.
The UK and Pakistan have been working together on this case and a team of Scotland Yard Officers had also arrived in Islamabad to facilitate the trial taking place at both places.
