ISLAMABAD: The Federal Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar chaired a meeting to review Karachi Circular Railway (KCR) project on Thursday.
The Secretary Railways, CEO and Public Private Partnership (PPP) officials were present at the KCR Project meeting.
The meeting was informed that work has started on various phases of Karachi Circular Railway (KCR) project and timely completion of each phase will be ensured.

The Ministry of Railways is in-touch with the Sindh Government on a regular basis. Work on underpasses at various places is being expedited.
Planning and Development Minister Asad Umar directed Pakistan Railways to formulate a mechanism for public-private partnership for the third phase of KCR project.

Karachi Circular Railway (KCR) project was suspended in 2007 Musharraf Era after which there’s no Government provided Public Transport in the city.
The Supereme Court of Pakistan ordered Pakistan Railways and Sindh Government to revive the KCR services across the city.
The Anti-Encrochment drive by Sindh Government removed slums from the railway tracks and Federal Government is expected to restore Karachi Circular Railway (KCR) soon.
