The Balochistan government has declared a state of emergency due to heavy rains, preparing for more bad weather ahead. Schools in affected areas are closed, and government workers are called to duty. The Chief Minister is coordinating efforts to help those affected by floods, promising to fix drainage issues.
The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) is also on high alert, warning of floods and landslides. They expect heavy rain and strong winds across the country, with already 41 people dead from storms. Lightning strikes have been particularly deadly, especially in rural areas.
Mountainous regions are at risk of snowfall, leading to landslides and river floods. The Prime Minister is coordinating relief efforts with provincial authorities. Western winds are expected to bring more rain, spreading across the country by April 18.
Riverbanks in specific areas like Kabul River and Panjkora are vulnerable, urging caution. The army is aiding rescue efforts in Swat, Dir, and Chitral, reopening roads blocked by landslides. They also helped trapped tourists near Khunjerab Pass after an avalanche.
FWO successfully rescued over 180 tourist families trapped by the avalanche, ensuring their safety. The weather poses risks to crops, infrastructure, and public safety, so people are advised to stay safe and avoid unnecessary travel.
