Bhawalpur rape case: Twenty-year-old girl Tahira commits suicide

BAHAWALPUR: Yet another rape case has emerged in Bhawalpur, a twenty-year-old girl Tahira, who committed suicide as she did not get a positive response from the police on her complaint.

One after another rape cases have started merging in the country which has shocked and devasted the people in all provinces. The slogan “Hang the rapist publicly” has gone viral, people have started coming out on streets raising their voices against such crimes and in support of the victims.

The alleged rapist identified as Luqman forcefully took the girl in the fields and sexually assaulted her.

The victim Tahira when went to the local police station for complaint, she was asked to go to another police checkpoint. Upon not getting due response from the police Tahira was heart broken and decided to end her life.

The victim had left a note for her father, she wrote ” father tomorrow will live with your head raised high”

Tahira took her life because she had no hopes for getting justice, she committed suicide thinking it would save her parents from facing dishonor and disgrace of the society.

Justice For Tahira

Tahira had gone to the fields for her daily work where this heinous crime took place. Later on she along with her father went to the local police station to file their complaint.

The authorities failed to register her complaint that day, instead of filing their complaint both father and daughter were sent to different police check posts.

Tahira could not take the humiliation any longer and left a note for her father before committing suicide.

She clearly wrote in her letter that she is taking her life because she did not get justice. Tomorrow will be able to say you were a father of an honorable daughter with your head raised high.

DPO Bhawalpur reached the location after hearing the incident and has filed the complaint of the father. He has also filed a case against the SHO of the local police station who failed to support the victim.

Tahira belongs to a poor family and apparently the rapist Luqman has some connection with the local high profile people. The police officer did not take any action due to the culprit’s connection.

Tahira and her father are waiting for justice. She was brutally raped on Wednesday and on Thursday decided to take her own life to same the family honour.
