A remote-controlled bombing in Bajaur claimed the lives of former Senator Hidayatullah and at least four others on Wednesday.
The attack, which targeted Hidayatullah, occurred in Damadola.
The other victims were identified as Irfan, Yar Muhammad, Sami-ur-Rehman, and Nazar Deen. All five bodies were transported to the District Headquarter Hospital.
Hidayatullah was traveling for an election campaign for his nephew in PK-22 when his vehicle was attacked. He served as a member of the Senate from 2012 to 2024 and chaired the Senate Standing Committee on Aviation. Hidayatullah was elected as an independent candidate.
The deceased former senator was the brother of former Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Shaukatullah.
