The business community of Lahore has announced a shutter down strike on September 2 (Saturday) in order to protest against the inflated electricity bills and rising inflation.
In a statement, the President of Traders Association, Mujahid Maqsood Butt, said that markets across Lahore will remain closed on September 2 (Saturday) as part of the shutter down strike to protest against heavy electricity bills and rising inflation in the country.
He added that it was difficult to pay such heavy bills as it is destroying their businesses, urging caretaker Prime Minister, Anwaar ul Kakar to take action and provide some form of relief in the electricity bills.
Meanwhile, the business community of Karachi has also announced a shutter down strike on September 1 against the inflated electricity bills, which has caused panic among the masses as they are unable to afford such heavy billing.
Jamaat-e-Islami has also announced a shutter down strike against the heavy electricity bills. while Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has decided to hold nationwide protests against the current situation.
