The Capital Development Authority (CDA) in Islamabad has recently decided to proceed with the construction of two electric bus depots.
While the first installment of 30 out of the total 160 China-made buses has already arrived in the city earlier this month, the construction of the essential bus depots has now been given the green light. This construction process is anticipated to take around six months.
The second batch of buses is expected to arrive by the end of the upcoming month. The allocated budget for one of the bus stations, situated at Tramari Chowk, is Rs632.06 million, while the second station, located between sectors I-9 and H-9, is budgeted at Rs604.4 million.
According to a CDA official, these depots will be well-equipped with essential facilities including charging stations, drivers’ rest areas, maintenance sheds, and washing areas. The CDA has invited bids from registered construction firms, and the deadline for submission is January 24.
