Islamabad: Air Marshal Arshad Malik has taken charges of national Carrier (Pakistan International Airlines). He is appointed as President and Chief Executive Officer of the national carrier as disclosed in an official statement on Friday.
Air Marshal Arshad Malik has said that he is fully aware of the present challenges the national carrier (Pakistan International Airlines) is facing today, but he is very positive and optimistic about the future of PIA and is determined to face the challenges for better change.

Addressing the employees of Pakistan International Airlines Air Marshal Arshad Malik, first of all, thanked the Government of Pakistan for having the confidence in him and above all Allah Almighty for giving him the opportunity to serve the nation.
Knowing and being fully aware of the hurdles and constraints the national carrier faces today, Air Marshal Arshad Malik is confident and pledges to overcome them all to bring back the past glory.
He also shared that currently Pakistan International Airline is facing financial and administrative issues but he is confident the Airline ones again will attain the same position which it carried in the past.
Addressing the PIA Employees he also said that even though moving ahead be difficult but if all the employees of PIA but in their hard work with sincerity and dedication it won’t be too long before the national carrier attains it lost the glory of the past.
He added the present system of the airlines need to be brought at par with the best standards and practices in the aviation industry. Praising the current human resource of the Pakistan International Airline he said PIA human resource is a national asset and there will not be any retrenchments but at the same time also mentioned that he will not tolerate those found trying to hurt the image of the national carrier.
Detailing few points for the betterment he stressed on punctuality, improved services, improvement in the overall flight regularity and also work towards increasing the revenue aiming towards profitability to payout the liabilities.
He said it is the duty and responsibility of everyone in the airline to aim for the betterment and soon greater successes will follow.

- Worked more than 40 years with Pakistan Airforce and rose to the rank of Air Marshal
- Before joining PIA he was service as Vice Chief of the Air Staff
- Has undertaken numerous management and leadership courses both inland and abroad.
- He is a graduate of National Defence University (NDU)
- Qualified Air Command and Staff Course from the US
- He has also undertaken senior management courses from Harvard University, US
- Seasoned fighter pilot bestowed with Hila-e-Imtiaz, Sitara-e-Imtiaz, and Tamgha-e-Imtiaz by the government.
