Karachi Eat 2023 is one of the most anticipated events every year but the 10th installment of the festival ended in chaos with miscreants breaking into the festival, harassing women and families, throwing items at performing artists, dismantling tents and causing property damage.
People visiting Karachi Eat 2023 on the last day have shared their harrowing experience and shared videos of stags jumping over walls and breaking all the barricades, which turned the ‘family only’ event into an ‘all men’ event, according to some people.
Meanwhile, the performing artists were not spared by the miscreants and Kaifi Khalil has shared his experience on social media. The Pakistani artist called out the Karachi Eat 2023’s management for failing to provide a safe and secure environment for families and criticized the harassment of women at the event.
He added that he walked out of the event in order to protect the families and women from further humiliation and clarified that he wasn’t injured during his performance as suggested by some media reports. “I would like to clarify the fake news that’s circulating around about me getting injured during my performance at the Karachi Eats Event yesterday, which is not true.” he wrote on on Twitter.

“The event was cancelled mid-performance because I couldn’t continue with what was going on and it became a concern for people in the audiences as well.” he said. “It’s disgusting and unacceptable. I am not sure why this keeps occurring but it needs to stop. How can I perform when this happens? I request everyone to be mindful of each other and treat everyone with respect.” Khalil wrote on Twitter.
Meanwhile, the other artists scheduled to perform at the event refused to do so as well and shared their apologies with everyone on social media later.
Female attendees of the event have taken to social media and shared their experience from last night and even thanked God to have gotten out safely. “Made it out, thank God.” a netizen wrote on Twitter. “There were men outside the venue trying to get in to harass women.” she said. “The police were trying to control them, and suddenly the lights went out and they were all hooting like crazy.” he added. “Had to climb out of a broken wall to get safely to my car.” the netizen shared.
