PESHAWAR: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s visit to Peshawar was not greeted by Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ali Amin Gandapur, marking a departure from standard protocol.
Traditionally, the presence of the governor and the chief minister is expected upon the prime minister’s arrival. However, during the ceremony at the governor’s house, Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur was notably absent.
Furthermore, he was conspicuously missing during the distribution of relief cheques to rain-affected victims and in meetings addressing crucial matters like law enforcement and the financial affairs of the province. Notably, he also did not attend the prime minister’s swearing-in ceremony.
It was only after some time that the Chief Minister participated in the oath-taking ceremony of the provincial cabinet.
PTI leader Zahir Shah Toro cited technicalities, stating that the Prime Minister holds a Form 47, not a Form 45, hence the Chief Minister’s absence at the reception.
Prior to this, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had issued directives to ensure comprehensive relief and rehabilitation measures for those affected by torrential rains and snowfall in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Chairing a meeting in Peshawar, he emphasized the urgency of collaboration between the National Disaster Management Authority and the provincial administration to expedite rescue and rehabilitation efforts for the affected population.
