The total number of coronavirus cases in Pakistan have surged to 2238 with over 200 deaths being reported on Wednesday with the number now rising more rapidly.
The death toll of the country has also surged to 31 with five fatalities being reported today that includes the first one in Punjab where a 50 year old patient who returned from the UK on 21 March. The patient was a resident of Rawalpindi although the patient passed away yesterday night, the news was only confirmed this morning when the test results came back positive for COVID-19.
One more death was reported from Punjab with a 35 year old woman who passed away at Mayo Hospital Hospital where she was admitted on Monday. According to reports, the woman was also suffering from liver ailment in addition to COVID-19. These two deaths brought the province total to 11 along with the highest number of cases with 845.
One death was reported from Sindh of a 59 year old patient who was a resident of Karachi and tested positive for COVID-19 on 19 March, the same day he was admitted to the hospital after returning from Saudi Arabia. This brings the province death toll to nine.
Two deaths were reported from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa bringing the total fatalities in the province from coronavirus to eight. According to reports, the patients belonged to Bannu and Nowshera.

Global Update
The total number of coronavirus cases has now crossed 922,000 globally with the death toll over 46,000 with Italy having the most number of deaths in the world.
The death toll of Italy is 13,155 with close to a 1,000 deaths being reported every single day and the total number of COVID-19 cases in the country are over 110,500.
Spain has the second highest number of deaths in the world from COVID-19 with 9,053 and the country is also reporting close to a thousand deaths every day. The number of cases in Spain is the third highest in the world with over 102,000 cases.
United States currently has over 207,500 COVID-19 cases which is the highest of any country in the world and the third highest death toll with 4,611 after Italy and Spain. The condition of coronavirus has completely gotten out of hand in the US with over 20,000 cases being reported every single day and over 600 deaths reported in the last 24 hours.
