Total number of coronavirus cases in Pakistan have surged to 52,293 while the country’s death toll has reached 1,101. There were 1,700 more cases reported on Friday (22 May 2020) along with 36 more fatalities.
Sindh Health and Population Department reported four more fatalities in their daily coronavirus update which brings the provincial death toll to 340.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Health Department reported 16 more fatalities today in their daily coronavirus update. This brings the provincial death toll to 381 which is the highest of all provinces in Pakistan.
Punjab did not report any updates all day today. Punjab Health Department always reports figures that are a day old and those were included in our report yesterday. Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) gives the latest figures although, no updates were released from that department today.
Update: Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has given the update for 22 May 2020 and reported 14 more fatalities bringing the provincial death toll to 324.
There were no more fatalities reported in Balochistan according to the Balochistan Health Department and Balochistan Government Spokesperson Liaquat Shahwani.
Gilgit Baltistan did not report any more fatalities either according to the Daily Situation report issued by the GB Health Department. Although there were a new more cases reported.
Islamabad also reported two more fatalities according to the National Coronavirus Dashboard by the Government of Pakistan at covid.gov.pk/stats/pakistan. This brings the total deaths in the capital territory to 12.
