In a crackdown against smuggling, the Customs Department of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) successfully seized a shipment of 5,500 illicit mobile phones valued at over Rs. 50 million in Islamabad.
Officials from the Customs Department disclosed that the operation unfolded in Golra Mor following a tip-off, resulting in the effective confiscation of the contraband mobile phones.
Two individuals linked to the smuggling operation have been apprehended, and a First Information Report (FIR) has been lodged against them.
Presently, the accused are in a five-day physical remand under the jurisdiction of a special judge, as further investigations into the matter are actively ongoing.
As reported by Express News, authorities underscore the broader implications of this operation, emphasizing the existence of a significant network engaged in the smuggling of mobile phones and other items.
