KARACHI: The Government of Sindh has announced a public holiday in Karachi on Friday (October 1, 2021) due to Tropical Cyclone Shaheen which is forming some 300KM from Karachi. Therefore, all schools, colleges, businesses, and offices shall remain closed in Karachi on Friday.
However, the public holiday in Karachi does not apply to essential services and government offices engaged in rain emergency relief services, which will remain open tomorrow.
The announcement was made via a notification issued by the Office of Commissioner, Karachi Division.
The notification also advices public to remain indoors for their safety. The following is the copy of the said notification:
Karachi Schools to Remain Closed
The Sindh Education and Literacy Department has also confirmed the public holiday in Karachi stating that all schools and colleges will remain closed in the city.
However, the All Sindh Private Schools and Colleges Association (ASPSCA) was the first to announce that all private schools and colleges will remain closed on Friday due to forecast of heavy torrential rain and storms as a result of Tropical Cyclone Shaheen.
The decision was made after parents expressed their concern over tomorrow’s weather in Karachi.
