Dense fog has engulfed central Punjab, causing accidents and poor visibility in cities like Lahore. The severe fog has led to the closure of the motorway in multiple areas, rendering even fog lights ineffective.
A significant accident on the Grand Trunk Road in Jhelum resulted in 30 injured as 10 vehicles collided due to near-zero visibility as a result of dense fog. Rescue teams responded to the accident and the injured were shifted to a nearby hospital.
Another accident involved a family car from Narowal to Lahore, which fell into a nullah in Chungi Amar Sadhu due to low-visibility from the heavy fog, resulting in one fatality. The director general of Rescue 1122 urged the public to avoid rushing on foggy roads, emphasizing the increased risk of accidents.
He also highlighted the challenge for rescue vehicles to reach accident sites promptly in dense fog. Overall, the region faced numerous challenges, from road closures to accidents, underscoring the serious implications of the dense fog.
