The construction for the Diamer Bhasha Dam mega project has finally kicked off according to Prime Minister Imran Khan and Chairman CPEC Authority Lt. General (retired) Asim Saleem Bajwa.
Prime Minister Imran Khan was present at the “construction site of the Diamer Basha Dam, where he was briefed about the progress of the project”, according to a tweet from the Prime Minister’s Office.
The decision for the contruction of the Diamer Bhasha dam was made decades ago but the work is being carried out now which will be highly beneficial to the economy in improving the current account balance and it will also be environmentally viable according to the Prime Minister Imran Khan.

He also said that it will help with the development of the Chilas areas and the province which is one of his party’s policy of focusing on under developed regions in the country.
Furthermore Chairman CPEC Authority Asim Saleem Bajwa also tweeted about the Diamer Bhasha Dam saying that it will add 4,500MW of cheaper and greener Hydel power as well as offer 16,000 jobs in the cement and steel industries.
