Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) recently completed several traffic improvement projects in Hatta, Oud Al Muteena 1, and Al Sufouh 1 areas, aiming to enhance the efficiency of the road network, ease traffic flow, and enhance safety for all users.
In Hatta, the RTA constructed the Hatta Souq roundabout on the Dubai-Hatta Road, reducing travel time by 60%. Additionally, a new U-turn was built near Wadi Hub on the same road.
In Oud Al Muteena 1, Street 31 was expanded from a single lane to dual lanes in both directions near the Emirates Cooperative Society, accompanied by the addition of side parking slots, effectively doubling the street’s capacity from 1,200 to 2,400 vehicles per hour.
Furthermore, in Al Sufouh 1, a parking facility with 112 slots was established alongside a roundabout near Choueifat School on Hessa Street. This initiative streamlined the drop-off and pick-up process for students, ensuring optimal traffic safety standards.
According to Hussain Al Banna, CEO of the RTA’s Traffic and Roads Agency, road enhancement selections are made based on traffic studies, control center data, public feedback, and field observations. The agency focuses on implementing necessary traffic solutions to manage congestion effectively.
These projects reflect the RTA’s commitment to continually improving Dubai’s road infrastructure, ensuring smoother traffic flow and enhanced safety for residents and visitors alike.
