Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has introduced a new weekend bus route, W20, set to commence operations on February 9. The initiative is designed to enhance convenience for bus riders, particularly those heading to Al Mamzar beach. The W20 route will be operational from Friday to Sunday, spanning 5 pm to 11 pm, with buses departing every half-hour. The route links Stadium Metro Station to Al Mamzar Beach.
As part of an overarching effort to optimize the public bus network, RTA has undertaken several improvements. Notably, Route 11B will now be recognized as Route 11, aiming to elevate the bus user experience. Additionally, Routes 16A and 16B are being rerouted and rebranded as Routes 16 and 25, respectively. Route 16 will now run from Al Rashdiya Bus Station to Al Awir, while Route 25 will connect Gold Souq Bus Station to Al Rashdiya.
Further modifications include extending Route F62 to incorporate Dubai Festival City and Al Garhoud. Route C04 is slated for an extension to the Mohammed bin Rashid Library, and Routes 103 and 106 will offer direct, non-stop services from main stations to the Global Village.
In order to enhance overall travel experiences, Routes E303 will be diverted via Al Ittihad Street to Sharjah while the routes 16A, 16B, and 64 A are being discontinued. The Public Transport Agency of the RTA is also scheduled to implement journey time improvements for 13 bus routes, enabling quicker travel times on routes 5, 7, 62, 81, 110, C04, C09, E306, E307A, F12, F15, F26, and SH1. These improvements seek to make commuting easier and lower travel times on Dubai’s public transit system.
