ECP held meeting Regarding Upcoming General Elections 2018

A review meeting was organized in the Election Commission for the preparation of the country’s general elections 2018, in which various issues were discussed. The Election Commission of Pakistan directed all the secretaries of all the provinces in its notification dated May 16, 2018 that the District Returning Officer, Returning Officer, have been deployed, and started providing all the necessary facilities in this regard, so that the general elections being held in 2018 are facilitated. These facilities included relief and security to Returning Officers, CCTV cameras at sensitive polling stations, completing  facilities to the polling station and meet the shortage of election workers before the General Elections 2018.

In this regard, information from some districts of Punjab province has been received from the District Returning Officer and Returning Officer that sufficient security wasn’t provided to them, to which the Election Commission has expressed displeasure and the Chief Secretary Punjab was ordered to report in 24 hours regarding the issue.

The remaining three provinces have provided all necessary services to the District Returning Officers and the Returning Officers, on which the Election Commission expressed satisfaction.
