The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has announced the official date for General Elections 2024 after a meeting between President Arif Alvi and Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sikandar Sultan Raja.
According to the Election Commissioner of Pakistan’s (ECP’s) press release, the General Elections will be held in Pakistan on February 8, 2024. Furthermore, a formal notification has been issued by the President’s House as well.
The Supreme Court (SC) will apprise of the decision regarding the General Election 2024 date tomorrow. Earlier today, the ECP told the Supreme Court that elections would be held on February 11 after completing all arrangements, including delimitations, by January 29.
Initially, the ECP lawyer said that they were looking to hold polls on Sunday (11 February 2023) to ensure a high turnout of voters. However, the ECP suggested three dates to President Alvi and both sides ended up finalizing February 8 (Wednesday) as the General Elections 2024 date.
