Ehsaas Emergency Cash Program payments to start from 8 April

ISLAMABAD: Dr Sania Nishtar on the talk show Newsline hosted by Dr Maria Zulfikhar announced that Ehsaas Emergency Cash Program payments will start from 8 April, Wednesday.

The Ehsaas Emergency Cash Program has already been initiated and started receiving applications through SMS and their web portal. The program provides financial aid of Rs. 12,000 to the poor and deserving people during these hard times due to the coronavirus lockdown.

According to Dr Sania Nishtar, Punjab and Sindh will also be contributing sums of Rs. 700,000 and Rs. 250,000 respectively to the program from their own budget which will go towards aiding people who deserve it.

Everyone will be thoroughly analyzed to make sure that the most deserving people will get this Ehsaas aid and the the applicants will do through data checks that includes wealth assessment, monthly bills and even their travel history.

The Ehsaas Emergency Cash Program is aimed at helping 13 million people in the country providing them with financial aid of Rs. 12,000 with a total approved budget of Rs. 144 billion.

According to Dr Sania Nishtar, Kafaalat beneficiaries who are already getting Rs. 2,000 will now get an additional Rs. 1,000 and paid upfront for the next four months will a lump sum of Rs. 12,000.

How the Payment will be issued?

Payments for the Ehsaas Emergency Cash Program will be issued through 18,065 retail points across the country including biometric ATMs of Habib Bank (HBL) and Bank Al-Falah.

According to Dr Sania Nishtar, the payment process will start from Wednesday, 8 April 2020.

How to check eligibility for Ehsaas Emergency Cash Program?

You can check eligibility via SMS by sending CNIC to 8171 or apply online via their web portal. The applicants will receive SMS within next 48 hours to confirm if their application status.
