The federal government thinks it has provided enough relief to consumers as petrol prices are expected to rise from the next fortnight starting July 1, 2024.
According to the details, the price of petrol is expected to see a hike of Rs. 7 per liter, while the price of high-speed diesel (HSD) may be raised by Rs. 11 per liter.
Furthermore, the federal government is also considering increasing the petroleum development levy to Rs. 80 for MS petrol and high-speed diesel (HSD).
However, the increase in PDL will not be implemented at the same time and it will be applied slowly over the course of a next few fortnights if approved.
Currently, the petrol is being sold for Rs. 258.16 per liter, while the price of high-speed diesel (HSD) is Rs. 267.89 per liter.
During the previous fortnight, the government reduced the price of petrol and diesel by Rs. 10.20 and Rs. 2.33 per litre, respectively.
