The Minister of Interior has clarified that the Federal Government has not announced Eid ul Fitr holidays, and the notification circulating on social media is fake. It is pertinent to mention that a fake notification began making the rounds on social media stating that the Federal Government had announced four holidays for Eid ul Fitr.
The fake notification stated, “In continuation of cabinet division’s circular No 10-20/2023 Min-II dated 23rd December, it is for general information that the prime minister is please to declare 9 April 2024 to 12th April 2024 (Tuesday to Friday) as public holiday on the occasion of Eid ul Fitter.”
Here is a copy of the fake notification:
However, a government spokesperson rebutted these reports and stated, “The Federal Government has not yet made any decision regarding the Eid ul Fitr holidays.” He added, “Whatever decision the government makes about the holidays, a regular notification will be issued.”
It bears mentioning that only Punjab Government has announced nine-day holiday for Daanish schools on the occasion of Eid ul Fitr starting April 6, 2024.
The Federal and Provincial Governments are expected to announce Eid ul Fitr holidays soon after consultation with the Minister
