KARACHI: Two separate road accidents in Karachi resulted in tragic fatalities today, underscoring ongoing safety concerns within the city.
The first incident occurred at Ayesha Manzil, where a speeding bus collided with a motorcycle carrying a married couple. The collision resulted in the death of the wife; her husband sustained injuries and was taken for treatment.
Enraged bystanders reportedly set the bus ablaze following the accident, although all passengers were safely evacuated.
The family of the deceased has since alleged police mishandling of the case, claiming the initially apprehended bus driver has escaped custody.
In a second, separate incident on Abul Hasan Isphahani Road, a speeding bus fatally struck and crushed motorcyclist Yasoob Hussain.
The deceased, described as a young cricketer and part-time vendor, was traveling with his friend, Mohsin, who was injured in the incident. The bus driver fled the scene immediately after the accident.
Injured individuals from both accidents are currently receiving medical treatment. However, the family of Yasoob Hussain has expressed concern over the availability of adequate medical staff at Abbasi Hospital, where Mohsin is under care. Local authorities have yet to release official statements regarding these incidents.
