Islamabad Police has arrested Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and former Federal Minister, Fawad Chaudhry, from his residence on Wednesday.
According to the details, Fawad Chaudhry was arrested for ‘threatening’ the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) members and a First Information Report (FIR) was lodge against him under sections 53-A (promotion of enmity between groups), 506 (criminal intimidation), 505 (statement conducing to public mischief) and 124-A (sedition) of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC).
The First Information Report (FIR) stated that Fawad Chaudhry, in his speech outside PTI Chairman and Former Prime Minister, Imran Khan’s residence, used ‘threatening’ language and warned against ECP members and their families.
Furthermore, the report stated that Chaudhry said that status of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) had been reduced to that of a clerk.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders and party’s supporters have condemned Fawad Chaudhry’s arrest by Islamabad Police.
Meanwhile, the security remains on high alert at Imran Khan’s residence at Zaman Park after rumors of his arrested started circulating on social media in the early hours of Wednesday. PTI has also announced on its official Twitter handle, “There are reports that the puppet government will try to arrest Imran Khan tonight.”
