The Federal Ministry of Education, in cooperation with the district administration, has announced plans to introduce a fleet of 20 buses in Islamabad, exclusively to provide free transport service to female students and teachers. These buses will be easily distinguishable by their pink color and will operate in both rural and urban areas of the city.
The Secretary of Education stated that this decision was made due to the insufficient transportation options available, particularly for women and girls. Currently, 30 percent of the total 385 buses are not in use due to various reasons, such as budget constraints, driver shortages, and maintenance issues.
To address this, the ministry plans to refurbish and put these buses back into service by June 15. Once operational, they will provide free transportation services for female teachers and students, aiming to alleviate the transportation challenges they face.
