At least one person has died while several others have been injured as a result of a fire that broke out at the Chase Supermarket located at Jail Chowrangi in Karachi. According to the details, the fire broke out in the basement of Chase Supermarket during early hours of Wednesday.
The fire broke in the basement of Chase Supermarket, which is located at Jail Chowrangi in Karachi, and spread to Sumya Bridge View Apartments, which is located on the first floor of the building. The fire has reportedly caused damage goods worth millions.
Fire tenders from different areas of Karachi were dispatched to the location to control and put out the fire. Meanwhile, the police and other law enforcement agencies also rushed to the spot to prevent people from approaching the Chase Supermarket.
The reason for the fire, which erupted around 11:00AM, was not immediately known. However, Chief Fire Officer Mubin said that Chase Supermarket was operating the warehouse in the basement without permission, adding that storing cargo in a basement without explicit permission is not allowed. “It is stored under sheds in the open so that it is visible in case there is any situation.” he said.
Moreover, the residents in the area also shared pictures and videos of the fire on social media.
