LAHORE: On the eve of Ashura (10th Muharram), Lahore police claimed to have foiled an attempt of terrorism Thursday, arresting five alleged terrorists with sophisticated arms.
Following a tip off, police said, the law-enforcers raided a house in Shahdara area and arrested five terrorists who were planning to target Muharram processions in the city.
Arms, explosive material and maps of different areas of Lahore were recovered from the suspected terrorists whom police shifted to undisclosed location.
A central control room has been set up in DCO office Lahore to monitor security measures on 9th and 10th Muharram as mourning processions were taken out across the Punjab province and almost all big and small town of the country to highlight the sacrifice of Imam Hussain (R.A) and his family members rendered in Karbala.
