The suspect who killed a transgender individual in Gujranwala and fled abroad has been apprehended and extradited back to Pakistan.
In a joint operation, Punjab Police and Interpol Islamabad arrested the dangerous fugitive in Saudi Arabia and transferred him to Pakistan.
According to details, Sufyan Ali, the accused, murdered Khawaja Sara Usman alias Piya in Kamonki in 2020. Following the incident, Ali went into hiding and fled the country.
The Special Operation Cell of Punjab Police, Gujranwala, issued a Red Notice for the accused through Interpol.
After his arrest, the suspect was transferred to Pakistan in close coordination with Saudi police.
The police team arrested the suspect at the airport, bringing the total number of proclaimed offenders arrested from foreign countries this year to 40.
IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar commended the RPO Gujranwala and the police team for apprehending the dangerous proclaimed offender. He instructed that legal proceedings against the accused should be expedited to ensure justice is served.
The IG Punjab also directed officers to enhance coordination with Interpol, FIA, and other departments to apprehend other dangerous criminals and bring them back to the country to face appropriate punishments.
