Alphabet’s Google has announced to contribute $500,000 as donation for the flood relief efforts in Pakistan. According to the details, Google says that it will continue to find more ways to help the flood victims in the country after severe flooding killed almost 1,200 people and submerged one-third of the country.
“During this time of the disaster, Google.org will donate US$0.5 (110 Million PKR) through its philanthropic arm to the Center for Disaster Philanthropy, which will be made to the sub-grants to the local organizations that are actively engaged in crisis response and recovery.” Google said in a statement.
In addition to the funds being provided by Google, its employees are also providing donations towards flood relief efforts in Pakistan. In just a few days, Google employees have contributed more than Rs. 72 million in personal donations and company matches, the search giant added.
According to official data, 110 districts have been affected, with 34 in Balochistan, 33 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 16 in Sindh, and the remaining districts in Punjab, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Kashmir. The floods have killed almost 1,200 people, including 399 children.
