Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday approved a summary to increase power tariff by Rs. 7.91 per unit. According to the details, the increased electricity tariff will be implemented in phases over the next few months.
NEPRA had sent a summary to the Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, which was approved and will lead to increase in the power tariff by Rs. 7.91 per unit. However, the increase will be implemented in phases over the next three months.
In the first phase, there will be an increase of Rs. 3.50 per unit from July 1, while the second increase of Rs. 3.50 per unit will take place from August. Furthermore, the remainder Rs. 0.91 per unit increase will be added to the basic power tariff from October.
It is pertinent to mention that the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) on Monday approved an increase of Rs. 9.66 per unit in the power tariff for K-Electric consumers on account of Fuel Charges Adjustment (FCA) for May 2022.
