The Utility Stores Corporation (USC) has notified of a massive increase in the flour prices in Pakistan by more than 20 percent. The new rates for flour have been conveyed to all zonal managers in a notification issued on May 26 by the Utility Stores Corporation of Pakistan.
According to the details, the flour price has been raised by Rs. 180 for a 20KG bag, bringing the new price to Rs. 980 as compared to the previous rate of Rs. 800. Meanwhile, the price of 10KG bag of flour is now Rs. 490 compared to the previous rate of Rs. 400, which is an increase of Rs. 90 per bag.
The decision comes a day after the government announced a massive hike of Rs. 30 per litre in the price of petroleum products in order to restore the International Monetary Fund (IMF) $6 billion programme. As usual, the Finance Minister, Miftah Ismail, blamed Former Prime Minister, Imran Khan, for the current economic situation of the country.
The Finance Minister has also announced that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will introduce a relief package for people who can’t afford the new prices of petrol. However, Miftah Ismail did not reveal any further details about the package, but it is save to assume that it will be announced for motorcycle users.
