The online passport renewal service can be accessed via https://onlinemrp.dgip.gov.pk and the facility is available for both overseas and inland Pakistanis. The service allows a citizen to renew their passport online by uploading the requirement documents and making the payment via Debit/Credit Card.
The new service is very useful as it eliminates the need for citizens to visit passport offices and wait in long queues, which cause a lot of inconvenience, especially to senior or disabled citizens.
Recently, Pakistani passport was ranked fourth worst in the world by the Henley Passport Index, which is the ranking of the world’s 199 passports based on the number of destinations their owners can visit without the need for a prior visa.
