As part of the Prime Minister’s Strategic Reform Initiatives for Women’s Mobility, called “Women on Wheels,” the government will distribute 22,000 bikes to women across the country.
According to the Economic Survey released on Tuesday, this project aims to improve women’s mobility and accessibility by offering motorcycles and scooters at lower prices. The initiative, costing Rs 4,476.17 million, will benefit women in Islamabad, Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Gilgit-Baltistan.
The “Women on Wheels” plan is designed to help women from various backgrounds, including businesswomen, students, teachers, health workers, and those working in government or semi-government jobs. The National Commission on the Status of Women (NCSW) will be responsible for carrying out this project.
According to the report, only permanent female employees will be eligible for these bikes. The bikes will be available this year for a monthly payment of Rs. 2,500 to Rs. 3,000, depending on the woman’s employment status. The scooters will be distributed between August and November.
This initiative aims to empower women by making it easier for them to travel and participate in the workforce.
